Dust storm. Colorado

Teaching Notes

The Dust Bowl covered the Plains and eventually the country with dust storms. 'Black Blizzards' as they were called were clouds of dust that reduced visibility turning day into night. Dust loomed in the sky for days, leaving residents with respiratory illnesses.

Observe the effects of erosion and construct an explanation based on evidence for how availability of natural resources changed the environment and influenced human activity. Encourage students to write their reasonings using justification from photographs displayed.
