    The book is Pink and Say by Patricia Polacco. The topic is two unlikely soldiers during the Civil War. Fifteen year old Pink who is an African American Union Soldier and his poor white comrade, as one nurses the other back to health from battle wounds the two are imprisoned at Andersonville.     This book sounds like a wonderful choice for a book backdrop. You've clearly found many relevant primary sources. Nice!

    Pink and Say can be used by both elementary and middle school teachers. Nice choice of photos and documents to support the story.
