Meet Me At the Mall: An Architectural and Cultural History

Album Description

Welcome to “Meet Me at the Mall: An Architectural and Cultural History.” In this album, you’ll take a nostalgic, quasi-academic romp into the “mall culture” of the 1980s and 90s. You'll go even further back, tracing the mall's history from 19th-century emporiums and its early manifestations during America's midcentury.

You’ll learn about this heyday of American consumption and reflect on what this history implies for our present modes of shopping. Get your side-ponytails and scrunchies ready because…we’re going to the mall!
