Week of the Teacher

Album Description

It’s teacher appreciation week in most schools. An Album might be a fun way to have a primary source celebration of teachers. Find one of the marvelous primary source images of teachers or teaching in the Library.  Add to this album with one or more of your favorite Library teacher images.

Perhaps you’ll find an image that reminds you of a teacher or teaching situation you’ve had.  Or you might select an image that represents something you’ve experienced as a teacher or librarian. Or an image might just bring up teaching nostalgia.

Feel free to add a comment to your selected images or let it speak on its own.

Knitting class Lafayette House, knitting class of wounded

Teaching Notes

This 1918 photograph of a teacher showing wounded soldiers how to knit reminded me of an entry in my great grandparents' diary from the same time period. In her entry for January 25, 1918, my Great Grandmother Anna Allen wrote, "Friday: Both at home. I did housework & finished knitting a sweater for the soldier boys. took it down to Red Cross room & brought back yarn for another."

I come from a long line of teachers on both sides of my family. Thank you for creating an album to celebrate all teachers,   Cheryl Davis !
