Album Description
My husband has wonderful stories of biking from his home in the South Side of Chicago down the midway to Jackson Park and spending the day in the Museum of Science and Industry. It is here that he gained his love for science and grew his early curiosity and quest for knowledge of the world. (Carla Hayden, Librarian of Congress, spent some time there also.)
The Library of Congress is commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Fredrick Law Olmsted, the famous designer of many city parks and outdoor spaces. I’ve included some of the Library’s photos of Jackson Park in this album.
What additional albums can you create and share with your students centered on a park or recreation area (tag with #parks&rec)? I’m looking forward to seeing your creations that will not only inspire your students to visit the outdoors but to investigate the design and enjoy educational experiences at these locations.
