Just Glass

Album Description

How We Got to Now:Glass

Prime Video  or PBS

Steven Johnson

What a wonderful program that spoke about “What would the world be like without glass”? I loved the question and the thought. I put together some primary sources for an introduction to the idea of glass.  I would have them examine the sources to figure out the connection that each of these sources have.  Then I would ask the  kids to  brainstorm things that involve glass. Have them watch the video and research some of the great attributes of glass.

Having students think about glass would really get them thinking about how important that one product is to our world. In Johnson’s video, which can be found on PBS or Amazon Prime for a price, Johnson speaks about how glass changed the world. I never thought of it before but it truly did. Johnson connects glass to just about every facet of life from economics , to education, to health. I think this would prove to be an enlightening study for students of all ages. I highly recommend the video as well as thinking about other simple products that changed our world.
