Please join your colleagues in welcoming our first ever TPS Teachers Network Mentors!
The TPS Teachers Network is growing. We now have over 3,000 members from across the country contributing primary sources and teaching ideas in more than 25 public groups and dozens of private groups. Twenty months after the official launch of the Network, we feel confident about reaching out to an even wider population of educators across the country.
As our membership expands, we want to ensure that all users have a meaningful experience each time they log in to the Network - an experience consistently enhanced by additional experts and dedicated colleagues.
To guarantee such an experience, thirteen members of the Network advisory group, all selected originally in 2010 through a rigorous nationwide application process, recently completed an intensive six-week TPS Teachers Network Mentor course.
Course activities were built around three themes:
- Understanding the Network
- Supporting Teacher Learning
- Enhancing the Network Experience
During the course, Network mentors-in-training dived deeply into the Network’s technological underpinnings, practiced tasks utilizing the tools of the Network, wrote and peer reviewed original posts about pedagogy, and applied voice and tone consistent with our goal of creating a welcoming and professional community dedicated to teaching with Library of Congress primary sources.
Who are the Network Mentors? We will be featuring all the Network Mentors in a future Insider post. Meanwhile, you’ll be able to identify them by the following icon seen on their avatars.
Watch for them, learn from them, ask them questions, and most of all, give them a warm WELCOME!
