PlanetRead has served as the backbone of the Same Language Subtitling (SLS) project since 2004 and has run numerous SLS pilots on TV in Indian languages, built the evidence base, and championed SLS reaching 200 million viewers. 26 years in the making, the SLS project has been recast as IIMA’s BIRD initiative. BIRD proposes the integration of SLS with video-based entertainment & education content for reading literacy at a transformative scale.
The Library of Congress's (LoC) inaugural International Prize for Literacy, to PlanetRead in 2013, set us up for success and we are truly grateful to LoC for recognizing the potential of SLS. The linked report provides a snapshot of our achievements, evolution over the years and our growth plans for the coming future. Hope you all enjoy going through it!
I had a wonderful time working with the Library of Congress and learning about all of the resources at my fingertips!

The TPS Teachers Network has an equal exchange of ideas. You know it's not a place where you're being judged.

My colleagues post incredibly fine resources and ideas....the caliber of the suggestions and resources make me feel that I take a lot from it. It's a takeaway. And I hope that I can give back as much as I get.

I am very glad that I discovered the TPS Teachers Network through RQI. Great resources can be hard to find out there on the internet!
