Good afternoon to all. Just joining the group as the Specialist, Learning Content Development for The Henry Ford, including the museum, Greenfield Village, and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour.
Welcome , glad to have you here and looking forward to learning from you.
Thank you! Love to share the wonderful artifacts we have and help teachers find ways to incorporate them into their lessons!
Hi Janice,
The Henry Ford Museum is a gem! Welcome. Please feel free to highlight in this Group ways in which the Museum can provide learning opportunities for students and educators. I've linked to the site before, but you have the inside track!
Happy to share this link to the new educator platform The Henry Ford has established to share educator resource guides, artifact spotlights, and professional development opportunities. We are continuing to build out the platform, but memberships are free for most of our opportunities.

For those unfamiliar, we often hear that the assumption is we are a car museum. Well, we do have about 300 cars in our collection, and around 100 on display, but we also have 18 airplanes and half a dozen trains on display. We also have the only remaining Dymaxion House designed by Buckminster Fuller and the bus Rosa Parks was riding when she was arrested in December, 1955.
Please feel free to reach out with questions or comments. I do think THF is a gem! :)
I do think THF is a gem! :) We have a new educator platform that offers professional development opportunities, educator resource guides, artifact spotlights, and access to digitized artifacts:

Membership has a free option and includes most of our opportunities for educators.
We often hear that many people think THF is just an automobile museum, and we do have about 300, with around 100 on display, but we also have 18 airplanes, half a dozen locomotives, and so much more. We have the only remaining Dymaxion House, designed by Buckminster Fuller, and the bus Rosa Parks was riding in December, 1955. And then, there is Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour, so please reach out with any questions.
Hi Janice! I work at THF too. :) I'm in Accessibility now. I used to be in Youth programs. I also teach in Dearborn. Great to see THF on here!
Welcome, Janice Warju ! I was thinking about you and everyone from the Rural American Experience grant when I created an album two days ago called "Bringing in the Hay" for the upcoming NCHE conference in Cleveland. Will you by any chance be there?
Hi, Mary. I will not be able to attend the conference, but it is possible our Curator of Agriculture and the Environment may be, Dr. Debra Reid.
I saw your album and it reminded me that we have an expert set on Hay: https://www.thehenryford.org/collections-and-research/digital-collections/expert-sets/101627
and over 200 related Hay artifacts. :)
Looking forward to seeing reports from the conference!
Janice Warju , thanks for that expert set on Hay. I edited the hay rake item in the album to reference the set in the Teaching Notes. I didn't use your name because I plan to share the album outside the TPS Teachers Network (with the COPY SHAREABLE URL feature), and we always try to protect the privacy of our members. I did, however, snag some information from your profile!
