About

The Primary Sources and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy group of educators aims to examine how primary sources can provide an effective vehicle for all learners to engage in culturally relevant learning.

Culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP) is a teaching framework established by Dr. Gloria Ladson-Billings at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In this group we will explore three tenets from that framework:

    • Tenet 1: Students experience academic success
    • Tenet 2: Students develop and/or maintain cultural competence
    • Tenet 3: Students develop a critical consciousness through which they challenge the status quo of the current social order
