I want to create a primary source album for fourth grade/Virginia Studies students who, as part of their standard, need to look how Native Americans are alive and well in our culture today but how they also celebrate and maintain their Native heritage.

This is a collaborative album, so feel free to add any content you think relevant!  native americans today    3-5

Christina Youel , you'll want to join the Teaching Native American History group right here in the TPS Teachers Network. You'll find lots of useful resources there, not only about history, but also posts and links that highlight the contemporary Native American experience. One of the points made so clearly by our wonderful advisory group before we launched that group in the Network was the absolute necessity of teaching against persistent stereotypes by highlighting the rich contributions and experiences of Native Americans today.

Yes, I echo   Mary Johnson 's suggestion.   I joined the Teaching American History group because I am interested and because it also helps me with volunteer work I do for our county historical society.  Recently I posted 2 discussions on contemporary indigenous women who are MAKING Native American History.  For example,  Meet Mary Peltoa  who just was elected to the U.S. House of Congress from Alaska's only congressional district.
