I went down a rabbit hole today when I looked up a placename I'd never heard of:
Tredegar, Alabama
When I googled it, it was in the 35265 area code, the same as the university where I work. Where was this place?
Things I learned:
There was a four-mile long railroad linking Tredegar to Jacksonville
"In 1896, the Kelley brothers completed building the Tredegar Mineral Railway (Tredegar, Alabama to Jacksonville, Alabama) to haul ore four miles from their mines to the E&W Railroad"

"Jacksonville Mining and Manufacturing Co. was incorporated March 12, 1889, in Jacksonville (Calhoun County) Alabama.; There is no reference to Tredegar in the Encyclopedia of Alabama, and it is assumed that the planned community was never created.; Shows proposed streets, lots, public spaces, etc."

"This tunnel was for a former train track that is now gone."
