Hey everyone,
Following Dr. Marquez's lecture, I came up with some ideas for using the interviews in my classroom. I was thinking of having students listen to different ones and creating illustrations such as signs that the activists would hold/held.
Another idea I had was using the interview for group projects. Each group would be tasked with creating a children's book written and illustrated for the elementary level.
Any thoughts?
After going through ideas, I settled on using a storyboard template for my students. What are everyone's thoughts on storyboards? I find that allowing students to draw (by hand or digitally) gives them a creative outlet to express themselves through the curriculum.
Hi Laura, I love the idea of a storyboard. Can you say more about what grade you teach and how it might work for different age groups? Any special tips?
I teach high schoolers - 11 & 12th grade and I usually do 6 squares. Middle schoolers can do less and elementary could do 2-3 squares to illustrate events.
Thank you. What are your instructions and expectations for high schoolers? I'm trying to figure out how much background information would need to be provided and whether this fits better as a final assessment or something along the way.
