I have known Supaman for a number of years. He has come to Wasshington School several times. He is an amazing Traditional Dancer. He also goes by the name Christian Parrish. https://www.supamanhiphop.net/
Supaman has 5 albums and is also a rapper. https://www.definingcultures.com/supaman-native-american/
Another Native Artist has created a fashion line that has been well received. I have seen her clothing line and it is amazing. Her most recent collection is headed for New York and Paris. She has used Apsaalooke (Crow) beadwork for inspiration.
I have seen her work modeled at Rodeos and Indian Relay races and the Western Heritage Museum here in Billings. But until tonight I did not realize that Christian and Angela are married to each other. I had to hear it on the news https://www.ktvq.com/news/local-news/billings-fashion-designer-headed-to-new-york-paris . Both of these individuals have accomplished so much.

Wonderful post, Ruth Ferris. It's a another example of "we are still here." I recently visited with St. Paul artists Marlena Myles when she was an artists in residence here. Statement from her website :
The common misconception with Native art is that it’s traditional — it’s stuck in the past. But the truth is that Native people have always been innovative. So, to use Illustrator is just a continuation of what my ancestors already did.
Much of her work is digital and very contemporary. One exhibit explored the relationship between the Russians and indigenous Alaskans in Sitka, Alaska.
Her website has colorful maps of the Dakota Homelands. 8.5 x 11 PDF versions are available as free downloads to use as a teaching tool The maps include the Dakota language. This link depicts S.E. Minnesota where I live. The .jpg copy below is reduced in size and quality. The website also has free coloring pages.
