The inspiration for this album came from the oral history resources included in the teaching notes for the portrait of Native American ranch worker Stanley Smart and his son, which is part of the album—Bringing in the Hay: What can the TPS Teachers Network do for me?
Julie Schaul, of all the primary sources I discovered while creating the Bringing in the Hay album, the work of Native Americans on various ranches in Idaho, California, Montana, Texas, and Florida intrigued me the most because they challenged my pre-conceptions. I was especially pleased to find so many oral history interviews that could be used in classrooms. Your collection digs even deeper, and I couldn't be more pleased to see it made available to members of this group!
