    In honor of Women’s History Month, I took a look through the LOC’s film collection.

    This album consists of short films depicting women published between 1900-1909.

    While observing these films, your learners, specifically those in Women and Gender Studies or History courses, can analyze the various representations of women throughout the early 20th century. The publication data should also be analyzed as that can provide deeper insight into the films.

    Some questions to consider are;

    Who created this film? Do you think knowing the filmmaker is important to understanding the film?

    Who is the intended audience for this film? How does that change how you interpret the content?

    Which stereotypes or tropes about women are incorporated into this film?

    What can this film tell you about how women might have been treated during this era?

    Thanks for pulling these together   Talia Smith !  As we approach “March Madness” the Basketball, Missouri Valley College will be of interest along with these rules as we watch women’s college basketball this month. Lots for learners to analyze here as they explore women's sports.
