This album contains 3 sources I feel are intriguing yet simple enough to catch the attention of prek-2nd grade minds and inspire them to want to learn more as they grow.
Hello Elizabeth,
There is a wonderful group in the Network that is entirely focused on Early Learners. You may find some techniques in there that will help you in the classroom. Here's the link: See, Think, Wonder: Primary Sources in Early Childhood
Elizabeth, the premiere TPS resource for young learners, is an online app called Kid Citizen created by Ilene and Michael Berson, professors of early childhood and elementary education at UCF. The episodes are ready-made digital lessons that can be used with a whole class or for individuals who have access to a device. It is filled with primary sources carefully chosen for young learners that many teachers take out of the app to use in a more traditional lesson. The sources and the inquiry skills taught are amazing.
Elizabeth Honea ,if you are still interested in primary sources about fossils for primary grades, take a look at this primary source set of images created by using this Advanced Google Site Search using fossils site:blogs.loc.gov. The advantage of this search is that the experts who wrote the blogs give us educators some great context information about the images and their creators
