    These images will be used to introduce middle school students to comics.  Students will learn to create their own comic strips using a combination of drawing and text that tells a story about school.  They will start with analyzing the Fall of Icarus (seeing how simple images can tell a story).  They will then look at cartoons and comics from different time periods and comics that take place in a school setting.

    The opening of school --
    Daily inspection of teeth and finger nails. Older pupils make the inspection under the direction of teacher who records results. This has been done every day this year. School #49, Comanche County. Location: Lawton [vicinity], Oklahoma
    Orange, Texas. In the extended school day-program in the public schools, some children of families where both parents are employed come to school as early as 6 a.m. to enable the parents to get to work. They go back to bed on cots in the school corridor. Then they get up and go through the regular school day. After school until the parents call for them, up to 6 p.m., they have a recreation program conducted on a hobby basis. These children are playing after school waiting for their parents to finish work
