This wonderful, thorough unit plan introduces simple background of the Nazi’s & WWII, essential vocabulary, journal topics, internet links, and Google Classroom for the study and reading of the novel, Night. The lesson is scaffolded and prepared for ELs in grades *9 and 10 with WIDA levels  3-4.

    Students will be exposed to primary sources through such activities like the “Gallery Walk” where students will observe and analyze images from posters of Nazi Propaganda. Students will analyze, comment on, and create questions to illicit thinking and review of WWII and the Holocaust. Students will also read and analyze several poems that reflect other people in history who were placed in “concentration camps” such as the Japanese Internment. Students will produce their own redactive poem from the reading. 6 - 8 9 - 12 Bilingual Education/ESL English/Language Arts Social Studies/History Technology
