    These pictures help students understand the time period of the book "Ruth and the Green Book" by Calvin Alexander Ramsey and Gwenn Strauss

    This book was written in 2013 about the 1950s.

    In this story an African American girl travels with her family from Chicago to Alabama.  During their travels they use "The Negro Motorist Green Book" which was a book that helped African Americans find businesses across the country that would allow them to come (restaurants, hotels, gas stations, etc) in an era of segregation. 3 - 5 Social Studies/History English/Language Arts
