    RESOURCES TO INFORM TEACHING HISTORY/SOCIAL STUDIES WITH DIVERSE LEARNERS

    The Teaching English Learners group seeks to spark discussion and share a variety of high quality resources related to work with English Learners (the term used in federal legislation), Multilingual Learners (the term widely used to recognize linguistic strengths of this group) and other diverse learners.

    Image: Ojo Sarco, New Mexico. One-room school in an isolated mountainous Spanish-American community, which has eight grades and two teachers. Most of the teaching is in Spanish, the language spoken in the children's homes, and as a result they rarely speak English fluently
